- ambr012, 300 Silver, W198 I, 1954
The 300 SL "Gullwing" made its debut at the International Motor Sport Show in New York in February 1954. The high-performance sports car was based on the legendary 1952-season racing car. The unmistakable hallmark of the vehicle was the gull-wing door design, and the four-stroke engine with petrol injection was a world's first for a series-produced passenger car. With a top speed of up to 250 km/h, this was the fastest series-produced vehicle of its time and the dream sports car of the 1950s.
